The Nokia Ovi Store is getting an over-the-air update today, which will enable full Arabic support for the store and Qt based app installation. What this means is that apps created for Symbian 5th edition and Maemo will now be compatible with Symbian^3.
This is great news for the newest Symbian, because it opens a whole new window of content to the handful of phones that run it. And given the fact that the Ovi Store is way behind the Android Market and the iOS AppStore, this should be taken as a serious upgrade.
Keep in mind that an error with the update may occur and, should that happen, Nokia suggests that you hit Try Again and continue hassle-free.
In other related news the Nokia Diagnostics app has just been released in Beta form for Symbian^3. It's exactly the same as on the 5th edition and offers all the test it did before. Nokia are keeping it clean and simple here, why change something that's already good?
But as with the Ovi Store update, Nokia has a note about the Diagnostics app, as well. If you're using the N8, C6 or C6-01 you'll need to update your firmware from PR1.0 to PR1.1.
Finally, the Diagnostics application has been updated too, in order to fix the front-facing camera issue it obviously had before.
